This was a very difficult run due to the heat and the time of day I elected to get it done; I ran 9 miles pretty slow — 8: 40 pace. My general easy day runs are between 8 – 8:30 pace. If I am very tired from a previous run or if I have a very tough run the next day, I will lean closer toward the 8:30 mark. I did run the last two miles at a per mile pace of 7:32 and 7:24.

One of the things I have learned from Karl and Coach Pete and from the various amount of literature I have read is this: Most runs should be easy runs. Runners should incorporate a variety of paces. In the past that was my big mistake; I used to do all of my runs at the same pace. I honestly can say that I enjoy running easy at times; it drives my itch to run faster other times.

I am looking forward to getting back to Houston as I get ready for a 5k race Saturday.

Total Miles today: 9
