The goal was to get out of the house early enough to beat the Houston heat; I was quickly reminded that though it helps to face cooler temps, that means very little in Houston; it was hot and humid. My 12 mile run went reasonably well; I came close to hitting my splits, but not as close as I thought once I reviewed my Garmin. My easy miles were too fast. I did a 2 mile warm up before hitting my faster 6 mile runs, then a 4 mile cool down; I should have done this at 3 x 6 x 3.
